Farewell To Judy Kosiorek WJ9K

November 7, 1952 - Aug, 14 2021

Judy Mae Kosiorek, 68, passed away on August 4, 2021. Judy married Richard Kosiorek (W9RIC) on August 24, 1973 and they enjoyed 49 years together.

Judy enjoyed sewing, collecting Coca Cola merchandise and angels, hummingbirds, reading, and all things hot and humid. She loved the long car and motorcycle trips she'd take with her husband Richard. She was a connoisseur of flowers and chocolate, and very proud of her Extra Class Ham Radio license and membership to the Fox Cities Amateur Radio Club. Judy was a mother to and protector of all children. She loved and lived for her family, and that care spread to any child who crossed her path.

David L. Young - K9DLY

David L. Young passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 17, 2021, at his home in the town of Little Wolf, Waupaca County. He was born in Madison on July 19, 1955 and spent the first few years there. Dave grew up in Fond du Lac, Bear Lake and Manawa and spent much of his life in this region. Dave was a veteran, serving in the US Navy on an aircraft carrier based in the Philippines. He worked for many years for the State of Wisconsin. He was an independent businessman. Dave was a charter boat captain, certified SCUBA instructor, fishing guide, Merchant Marine officer, and AC heating contractor. As a youth, Dave loved athletics and enjoyed baseball, speed skating and water skiing. A love of the water led him to visit and live by the ocean for many years where he enjoyed spending time with friends and family out on his boats on the water touring, diving, fishing, and hanging out on the sandbar. Dave and Kristi spent 10 years in the Florida Keys. He had a huge love for both dogs and kitties. Dave enjoyed HAM radio and made friends around the world over the radio waves.

Richard L. Homer

KB7QLH - Silent Key

This page is dedicated to Richard  L. Homer, KB7QLH , an Extra Class Amateur Radio Operator. Richard was born in 1932 and passed away in 2014, not only was Richard an amateur radio operator, he contributed much of his time and effort by assisting in amateur radio emergency commications to help protect the residents of Tombstone, Arizona.

I never new Mr. Homer personally, it was quite by accident that I learned he had been an amateur radio operator and of his contributions to emergency communications. Mr. Holmer achieved the highest class rating that any amateur radio operator can, that of Extra Class Licensure.

Robert Hollister  R70, N7INK Cochise County ARES/RACES Officer, Communications Unit Leader, provided the following information about Richard L. Homer, KB7QLH:

Richard was a long standing member of the Cochise Amateur Radio Association. He joined ARES/RACES in October 1993. I can’t verify when he became a member of the Cochise amateur Radio Association but am guessing it was about the same time.

As his health permitted he was active and participated in a number of activities over the years including support to the La Vuelta de Bisbee Bike Races and similar activities. During the switchover at midnight on Dec 31 1999 (Y2K) he was our representative at the Marshal’s Office in Tombstone. We had radio operators at all the major law enforcement and hospitals around the county in the event things went to “heck in a handbasket”. As you know, that was a big fanfare but practically no impact. He had not been very active in the last five years due to his own health and taking care of his wife. I can’t remember exactly when his son moved away but it has been awhile. I am sure he can fill in some of the gaps as to specific activities. He is also a ham. Unfortunately, I do not have current contact information for him.

THe following are the comments of Robert W. Krueger, AB7CQ:

I had been looking for some additional tower sections for the Tombstone repeater, and On May 10, 2014  I received a telephone call from KG7DJU (Ron) who informed that there might be a tower or tower sections available, Ron provided me with a phone number so that I could contact the party selling the tower.

I called and a gentleman answered by the name of Jim, he advised me that the tower was still available and that I could drive over and inspect the tower to see if I was interested in purchasing it. It was then that I learned that Mr. Homer had passed away and that his family was liquidating the various items of Mr. Homer's estate for the widow.

Due to the generosity of of Jim who was responsible for liquidating the estate, I was able to procure a Rohn 25 tower complete with antenna, the base plate, top section and rotor, as well as many other items. The tower was of utmost importance for the AB7CQ/R UHF repeater, later this year I will be relocating the present temporary repeater antenna to the new tower which will improve the coverage of the repeater in and around Tombstone, Arizona.

I still need one, or possibly two more sections of Rohn 25 tower to achieve the necessary hieght, so, if you know of anyone that would be willing to donate a section, please let me know.

I personally want to thank Mr. Richard L. Homer's family for their generosity in making the tower available to me, without that generosity I wouldn't have been able to muster the necessary resources to complete the tower project.

May he rest in peace, we know that he is with God and pleased to know that all his efforts and contributions to Amateur Radio and Emergency Communications, are continuing to benefit the Tombstone, Arizona community.
